Prof Faheema Mahomed-Asmail, University of Pretoria

Prof Faheema Mahomed-Asmail is a dually qualified Speech-Language Pathologist and Audiologist and currently holds an Associate Professor position at the Department of Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology, University of Pretoria, South Africa.

Her research interest lies in providing access to person-centered ear and hearing health care through innovative solutions. In line with her field of interest, she has collaborated with institutions such as the IDA Institute, Denmark, Örebro University, Sweden, and the World Health Organization. She has published a number of articles (https://orcid.org/0000-0002-3666-8331) on the topic in both international and nationally accredited, peer-reviewed journals. Her research has been supported by various funding bodies some of which include the Andrew Mellon Foundation and the National Research Foundation (NRF, South Africa).

She also serves as the chairperson of the Research and Education Committee of the South African Speech-Language-Hearing Association (SASLHA). Prof Mahomed-Asmail recently graduated from the Department of Higher Education and Training Future Professors Programme (Cohort 2, South Africa) and currently holds an NRF Y1 rating.
