Prof. Abraham Matamanda (University of the Free State) has a PhD in Urban and Regional Planning from the University of the Free State (2019). His research focuses on urban sustainability, complexity and systems thinking, political economy theory, medical geography, informal urbanism, and climate change adaptation in cities of the Global South, with the aim of contributing to the creation of resilient and sustainable cities. Prof. Matamanda’s research has been funded by the National Institute for the Humanities and Social Sciences and the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (2020–2021). He holds a Y2 rating from the NRF.
